# Read a WhatsApp conversation

`POST /api/v1/tools/get_conversation`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://whatsync.app`
- URL: `https://whatsync.app/api/v1/tools/get_conversation`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`

Read a bounded page of messages from one WhatsApp conversation in chronological order. Pass the exact conversation_id returned by list_conversations or search_messages as conversationId.

## Request body

  - `conversationId` string, required: The exact conversation_id value returned by another WhatSync tool
  - `before` string, date-time: Return messages before this ISO timestamp
  - `cursor` string: Opaque next_cursor returned by the previous page
  - `limit` integer: Number of messages to return; defaults to 20

## Response `200`

JSON result. Every response includes X-Request-Id.
