# Look up a number's WhatsApp profile

`GET /v1/accounts/{account_id}/profiles/{phone}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.whatsmcp.com`
- URL: `https://api.whatsmcp.com/v1/accounts/{account_id}/profiles/{phone}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`

- `phone` string, required: the number to look up, international form

  - `about` string: the peer's status text, when they let this account see it
  - `business` BusinessView
    - `address` string
    - `categories` string[], nullable
    - `email` string
    - `hours` BusinessHoursView[], nullable
      - `close_time` string
      - `day_of_week` string
      - `mode` string: open_24h, appointment_only, specific_hours, or closed
      - `open_time` string
    - `hours_timezone` string
    - `options` object: extra published fields such as website or description
  - `is_business` boolean: true or false when known; ABSENT means the lookup could not establish it (see note) — absence is not a no
  - `jid` string
  - `name` string: the best available public name
  - `name_source` string: business or none — a verified business name is vouched for by WhatsApp; "none" means nothing public is published
  - `note` string
  - `on_whatsapp` boolean, required: false means the number is not registered on WhatsApp at all
  - `phone` string
  - `picture_url` string: a WhatsApp-hosted URL that expires; fetch it promptly
  - `refusal` Refusal
    - `account_status` string: when the number is not working: its status — starting, not_running, whatsapp_down, suspended, pairing, unlinked or locked
    - `account_status_reason` string: the detail of account_status, e.g. no_egress, stopped, no_plan
    - `message` string, required: a human-readable explanation
    - `reason` string, required: why the call was declined
    - `refused` boolean, required: true when the call was declined rather than performed
    - `retry_after_seconds` integer: seconds to wait before retrying; absent or 0 means retrying will not help
    - `since` string: when the number stopped working, RFC3339, when known
