# Request a shipping label

`POST /shipments/{shipment_id}/generate_label`

## Request

Queue label generation using the shipment's saved settings. HTTP 200 means enqueued, not generated. Preflight errors are returned synchronously. Receive successful labels through the label-created webhook; worker failures are not currently exposed by this API.

- `shipment_id` string, required

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- LabelGenerationAcceptedResponse
  - `shipment_id` string, required: Shipment whose label generation was requested.

## Other responses

- `403`: Seller verification required, or insufficient scope.
- `404`: Shipment not found.
- `409`: Shipment state, settings, or seller setup prevents generation.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `503`: Label generation is unavailable.
