# Promote an item to a global section

`POST /projects/{projectId}/global-sections`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://studio.weaverse.io/api/v1/content`
- URL: `https://studio.weaverse.io/api/v1/content/projects/{projectId}/global-sections`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Registers an existing item of this project, and its whole subtree, as a global section named `name` (1-191 characters). The item must already live on a page of this project; otherwise the call returns `404 PAGE_NOT_FOUND` and nothing is created. Promoting an item that is already a section of this project renames it.

This does not change any page content or publish anything: it only marks the subtree as shared. The response returns the section with its usages and live items, in the same shape as the list.

Required scope: `content:write`

- `401`: Missing or invalid credentials
- `403`: Foreign project or missing scope (INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE)
