# Update the signed-in user's display name (first/last) at the identity directory; reconciles the local mirror. Email change is handled inside the security widget (verified flow), not here.

`PATCH /v1/me/profile`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.wavehouse.cloud`
- URL: `https://api.wavehouse.cloud/v1/me/profile`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `whc_session`
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`

## Request body

- UpdateProfileInput
  - `first_name` string: New given name (omit to leave unchanged)
  - `last_name` string: New family name (omit to leave unchanged)

## Response `200`

OK

- ProfileView
  - `email` string, required
  - `name` string, required: Display name (first + last), reconciled from the identity directory
  - `user_id` string, required

## Other responses

- `429`: Rate limited, per client IP, API key or org; a client IP is also refused on every route for a while after repeated authentication failures. A limited operation carries RateLimit-Policy and RateLimit on every response; wait Retry-After seconds before retrying.
- `default`: Error
