# Take a SIP line back from a recipient

`DELETE /api/v1/extensions/{extension}/recipient`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://wardenpoint.com` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://wardenpoint.com/api/v1/extensions/{extension}/recipient`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Unbinds the recipient and removes the mirrored `internal_sip` contact, leaving the line itself in place and free for somebody else. This is the reversible half of the pair: `POST /api/v1/extensions` with the same `extension_uuid` puts it back. To destroy the line instead, use DELETE on the line itself. Answers 422 when the line is not an operator line or holds nobody — there is nothing to take back.

## Path parameters

- `extension` string, uuid, required

## Response `204`

Unbound.

## Other responses

- `401`: API key missing, invalid, revoked or expired.
- `403`: API key lacks the config.write ability, or the line belongs to another company.
- `404`: No line with this UUID.
- `422`: The line is not an operator line, or no recipient holds it.
- `429`: Too many telecom changes in a short window.
- `500`: The telephony switch or its database could not be reached. The binding may be left half-undone — re-read the line before deciding what to do.
