# Search all indices for a CVE

`GET /search/cve`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vulncheck.com/v3`
- URL: `https://api.vulncheck.com/v3/search/cve`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/vulncheck/apis/vulncheck-api/docs/search/cve/get.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

Returns all records referencing the specified CVE across all accessible indices. Results are aggregated
from multiple data sources including advisories, exploits, threat intelligence, and vulnerability databases.
Metadata is returned in the _meta field.

## Query parameters

- `cve` string, required
- `page` integer
- `limit` integer
- `cursor` string
- `start_cursor` string

## Response `200`

OK

- RenderResponseWithMetadataArrayIndexCveSearchHitIndexCveSearchMeta
  - `_benchmark` number: Benchmark is the server-side processing time for the request in seconds. Example: 0.122322 = approximately 122 milliseconds
  - `_meta` IndexCveSearchMeta: Meta is the metadata related to the endpoint response
    - `current_count` integer: CurrentCount is the number of documents returned in this response.
    - `cve` string: CVE is the CVE identifier that was searched for.
    - `indices_with_hits` integer: IndicesWithHits is the number of indices that contained at least one match.
    - `limit` integer: Limit is the maximum number of results requested per page.
    - `next_cursor` string: NextCursor is the cursor for fetching the next page of results. Empty if there are no more results.
    - `page` integer: Page is the current page number (only set in page-based pagination mode).
    - `queried_index_count` integer: QueriedIndexCount is the number of indices that were searched.
    - `timestamp` string: Timestamp is the UTC time when the search was executed.
    - `top_index_counts` IndexIndexCountEntry[]: TopIndexCounts contains the top indices by document count (up to 10).
      - `doc_count` integer: DocCount is the number of matching documents in this index.
      - `index` string: Index is the name of the index.
    - `total_count` integer: TotalCount is the total number of matching documents across all queried indices.
    - `total_pages` integer: TotalPages is the total number of pages (only set in page-based pagination mode).
    - `truncated` boolean: Truncated is true when this cursor page holds fewer records than Limit so that it doesn't end between records that sort equally. More records follow: keep requesting with NextCursor.
  - `data` IndexCveSearchHit[]: Data is the data returned by the endpoint
    - `id` string: ID is the unique document identifier within the index.
    - `index` string: Index is the name of the index where this document was found.
    - `score` number: Score is the relevance score from OpenSearch (higher = more relevant).
    - `source` object: Source is the full document content. Structure varies by index.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `500`: Internal Server Error
