# Delete a saved SSH key

`DELETE /v1/ssh-keys/{id}`

## Request

- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Idempotent — deleting a key that is already gone, or one that was never on this account, is also 204. Instances that already have the key installed keep it.

deleted, or already absent

## Other responses

- `401`: invalid or missing API key
- `403`: the key lacks ssh_keys:write
- `404`: the id is not a uuid
- `409`: ssh_key_mutation_unavailable
