# Change an instance's power state

`POST /v1/instances/{id}/power`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vozora.io`
- URL: `https://api.vozora.io/v1/instances/{id}/power`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Accepted actions are start, stop and restart. A stop may set force to skip the guest shutdown. The call is accepted asynchronously; poll the instance to observe the new state.

## Other responses

- `400`: unknown action or invalid payload
- `401`: invalid or missing API key
- `403`: the key lacks instances:write
- `404`: no such instance
- `409`: illegal_transition — the instance is not in a state that allows this action
