# Rename an instance

`PATCH /v1/instances/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vozora.io`

- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Changes the display name only. Nothing about the running server changes.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- ProvisioningPublicRenameRequest
  - `display_name` string

## Response `204`

renamed

## Other responses

- `400`: invalid request body
- `401`: invalid or missing API key
- `403`: the key lacks instances:write
- `404`: no such instance
- `422`: invalid_rename — the name is not acceptable
