# Delete an instance

`POST /v1/instances/{id}/delete`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vozora.io`
- URL: `https://api.vozora.io/v1/instances/{id}/delete`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Permanent and immediate: the server and its data are destroyed and billing stops. Requires confirm=true and typed_confirm set to the instance id. Needs instances:delete, which instances:write does not imply. A server on a fixed-price plan cannot be deleted (409 fixed_price_cancel_at_period_end): turn off its auto-renewal (PUT /v1/instances/{id}/auto-renew, or the dashboard) and it ends at the end of the paid period.

## Other responses

- `400`: confirmation_required
- `401`: invalid or missing API key
- `403`: the key lacks instances:delete
- `404`: no such instance
- `409`: illegal_transition — the instance is not in a state that allows deletion; fixed_price_cancel_at_period_end — the server is on a fixed-price plan
- `503`: destroy_check_unavailable
