# Remove a volunteer

`DELETE /api/v1/contacts/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://volunteerreminder.com`
- URL: `https://volunteerreminder.com/api/v1/contacts/{id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Soft-deletes the contact (frees a volunteer-cap slot; removes it from any schedule rosters it was on). Requires `contacts:write`.

## Path parameters

- `id` integer, required: Contact id.

## Response `200`

Confirmation of the delete.

- ContactDeleteResponse
  - `id` number, required: The deleted contact's id.
  - `deleted` true, required: Always `true` on success.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: The API key lacks a scope required by this endpoint.
- `404`: The requested resource does not exist.
