# Find cross references

`GET /xrefs/{osis}`

## Request

Cross references for a verse or chapter, ordered by crowd support. These carry no relationship type — the corpus records THAT two passages are connected but never WHY, so do not infer one. Chapter documents materialise only references at or above 20 votes, so a lower minVotes does not widen the result; the complete 341,289-row corpus ships as a dataset at /entity/references/cross-references.

Cross references, most-supported first.

  - `total` integer: Matching references, before limit and offset.
  - `offset` integer
  - `count` integer, required
  - `note` string: Scope caveat: only materialised references are returned.
  - `threshold` integer: Vote floor applied when the bundle was built.
  - `references` object[], required
    - `from` string: The verse the reference is anchored to.
    - `target` string: Site route of the referenced passage.
    - `votes` integer: Approximate crowd support, recovered from stored confidence.
  - `licence` Licence, required: Carried on every response. The obligation is inherited by anyone who redistributes the data, not discharged by us. `document` is the licence of the specific document fetched, which is CC-BY-SA-4.0 for anything under sa/ and is the value to honour over the blanket statement.

    - `data` string
    - `document` string: SPDX-style id for this document, e.g. "CC-BY-4.0".
    - `shareAlike` string
    - `reason` string
    - `attribution` string, uri

## Other responses

- `400`: The reference or parameter could not be parsed.
- `404`: No such document.
- `429`: Too many requests. Carries Retry-After. See the rate limit note in `info`.
