# Fetch an assessment

`GET /ext/v2/assessments/{assessment_id}/`

Fetches an assessment by its ID.

An **assessment** is a veterinarian's clinical evaluation or diagnosis recorded during a clinic patient visit. Each assessment is linked to a clinic patient and optionally to a specific medical record.

## Path parameters

- `assessment_id` integer, required: The ID of the assessment to retrieve.

## Response `200`

OK

- ExternalAssessmentSchema: An assessment represents a diagnosis or differential diagnosis associated with a medical record. It contains information about the diagnosis, notes, and resolution status.
  - `created_by_name` string, required: The name of the user who created this assessment.
  - `created_datetime` string, date-time, required: When this assessment was created.
  - `diagnosis_description` string, nullable: The description of the diagnosis.
  - `diagnosis_name` string, required: The name of the diagnosis for this assessment.
  - `differential_confirmed_datetime` string, date-time, nullable, required: When the differential assessment was confirmed, if applicable.
  - `id` integer, required: The ID for the assessment.
  - `is_active` boolean, required: Whether this assessment is currently active (not resolved).
  - `is_chronic` boolean, required: Whether this is a chronic diagnosis.
  - `is_external` boolean, required: Whether this is an external diagnosis.
  - `kind` string, required: The kind of assessment (Assessment or Differential).
  - `medical_record_id` integer, nullable, required: The ID of the medical record this assessment belongs to.
  - `note` string, required: Notes for this assessment.
  - `patient_id` integer, required: The ID of the patient this assessment belongs to.
  - `resolved_datetime` string, date-time, nullable, required: When this assessment was resolved, if applicable.
