# Add MFA Code to User

`POST /access/v1/credentials/mfa_code`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.verkada.com`
- URL: `https://api.verkada.com/access/v1/credentials/mfa_code`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-verkada-auth`
  - API key in header `x-api-key`

Add a mfa code credential to a user given a specified user_id or external_id and org_id. MFA code object will be passed in the body of the request as a json. We require a string of 4-16 numerical values. The MFA Code Object is returned.

## Query parameters

- `external_id` string: A unique identifier managed externally provided by the customer.
- `user_id` string, uuid: The unique identifier of the user managed by Verkada.

## Request body

- PostMFACodeBodyV1
  - `code` string, required: The unique mfa code identifying a mfa code credential for a user.

## Response `200`

OK

- MFACodeObjectResponseV1
  - `code` string, required: The code corresponding to a user's MFA code credential.
