# Set audit record retention

`PUT /data-retention/audit-records`

## Request

- Base URL: `/api` (relative, and the document was published on a file host, not at the API’s origin)
- URL: `/api/data-retention/audit-records`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Sets how long audit records are kept. Body: { months: 12 | 24 | 36 | 60 | 84 | 120 | null }, where null keeps records indefinitely. The change is recorded in the audit ledger. Admin only.

- `403`: Admin access required
