# Update Shift Cell

DEPRECATED hourly write. Use POST/PATCH /scheduling/shift-blocks.

Replaces one hour's seats by CARVING the hour out of every shift that
covers it, which can split a long block in two - the honest reading of
"these are the seats for this hour", and unreachable from the deployed
console, which has no way to author long blocks. Retires with the grid.

## Request body

- UpdateShiftCellRequest: Replace the seats of one (group, date, hour) cell.
  - `group_id` string, uuid, required: The coverage group being scheduled.
  - `shift_date` string, date, required: Center-local calendar date of the cell.
  - `hour` integer, required: Center-local hour of day (0-23).
  - `operator_ids` string[], required: Seated operators in seat order - index 0 is the PRIMARY, who bears a miss for this hour. An empty list clears the cell.
