# Delete Account

`DELETE /accounts/{account_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.verdun.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.verdun.ai/accounts/{account_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

## Path parameters

- `account_id` string, uuid, required

## Query parameters

- `delete_sites` boolean: When true, also RETIRE every live site assigned to this account, together with its cameras, NVRs and speakers. The database retirement is atomic: account, sites and subtree are soft-deleted in one transaction, or none of them are. Destruction of EXTERNAL state -- credential secrets in Secrets Manager, DeepAlert sensors, stored floor plans -- happens AFTER that commit on a best-effort basis and is not covered by the transaction, so a success response guarantees the retirement, not that every external resource was removed. Default false releases the sites instead, leaving them live under the client.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- DeleteAccountResponse
  - `success` boolean, required: Whether the account was retired.
  - `deleted_sites` integer, required: Number of LIVE sites retired alongside the account. Always 0 unless the request set delete_sites=true.

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
