# Create an Organization

`POST /v1/organizations`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vercel.com`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Create a new Organization. This endpoint is in private beta. Contact your Vercel account team for access.

## Query parameters

- `teamId` string
- `slug` string

## Request body

- object
  - `slug` string, required: The desired slug for the organization.
  - `name` string: The desired name for the organization. Generated from the slug if not provided.

## Response `202`

- Organization
  - `avatar` string, nullable, required
  - `createdAt` string, required
  - `name` string: The organization's display name. Optional: organizations created before the name attribute existed have no stored value. New orgs always get one (provided or slug-derived) via the service layer.
  - `organizationId` string, required
  - `slug` string, required
  - `teamCount` number, required
  - `teamId` string, required
  - `updatedAt` string, required
  - `userRole` string: The authenticated user's role in the organization. Present on read endpoints when the user holds an organization role.

## Other responses

- `400`: One of the provided values in the request body is invalid. One of the provided values in the request query is invalid. The slug is already in use
- `401`: The request is not authorized.
- `403`: You do not have permission to access this resource.
- `404`
- `409`
- `410`
- `500`
