# Mark messages as read

`POST /v1/chat/markMessageAsRead/{instance}`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://localhost:8080`
- URL: `http://localhost:8080/v1/chat/markMessageAsRead/{instance}`
- Auth: API key in header `apikey`

Marks one or more messages as read in a WhatsApp conversation. Set "played" on an item to send a played receipt instead, which is what turns a voice note's microphone blue.

  - `readMessages` DtoReadMessagesRequestItem[], required
    - `id` string, required
    - `played` boolean: Played marks a voice note as heard (blue microphone) instead of merely read (blue ticks). Audio and PTT messages only.
    - `remoteJid` string, required
    - `sender` string: FromMe bool `json:"fromMe"` ignored
