# Send a test event

`POST /v1/webhooks/{id}/test`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vatnode.dev`
- URL: `https://api.vatnode.dev/v1/webhooks/{id}/test`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `better-auth.session_token`
  - HTTP bearer

Sends a signed `webhook.test` event to the endpoint and returns the
live result (status code, latency, error) without persisting it to
delivery history. A successful (2xx) test is the only way a webhook
becomes `active`.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `200`

The live test result. `ok` is true only for a 2xx response from the
endpoint; transport failures return `ok: false` with a null status
code and an `error` message.

  - `ok` boolean, required: True only for a 2xx response from the endpoint.
  - `statusCode` integer, nullable, required
  - `statusText` string, nullable
  - `durationMs` integer, required
  - `error` string, nullable, required
  - `request` object: The request that was sent (method, URL, headers, body).
  - `response` object, nullable: The endpoint’s response (headers, body), or null on transport failure.

## Other responses

- `401`: No valid session (`UNAUTHORIZED`), or the account has been deleted (`ACCOUNT_DELETED`).
- `404`: The addressed resource does not exist, or is not owned by the authenticated caller. Returns the standard error envelope with code `NOT_FOUND`. Ownership and existence are deliberately not distinguished, so a resource belonging to another account is reported as missing rather than forbidden.
- `500`: An unexpected server error occurred. Returns the standard error envelope with code `INTERNAL_ERROR` and a `requestId` for support correlation. The failing request had no side effects the caller can rely on; retry is safe for idempotent operations.
- `503`: The database is temporarily unavailable (`DB_UNAVAILABLE`).
