# Set or clear the account-level VIES requester

`PATCH /v1/me/requester`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.vatnode.dev`
- URL: `https://api.vatnode.dev/v1/me/requester`
- Auth: API key in cookie `better-auth.session_token`

Sets the merchant’s own EU VAT (verified against VIES before saving)
or clears it. Accepts either a single full `vatId` or the split
`requesterCountryCode` + `requesterVatNumber` form. Pass
`{ "vatId": null }` to clear.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid VAT format (`INVALID_FORMAT`), VIES does not recognise the number as active (`VIES_NOT_REGISTERED`), or the request body did not match either accepted shape (`INVALID_REQUEST`).
- `401`: No valid session (`UNAUTHORIZED`), or the account has been deleted (`ACCOUNT_DELETED`).
- `500`: An unexpected server error occurred. Returns the standard error envelope with code `INTERNAL_ERROR` and a `requestId` for support correlation. The failing request had no side effects the caller can rely on; retry is safe for idempotent operations.
