# Delete a browser profile

`DELETE /contexts/{contextId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://request.usestring.ai/v1`
- URL: `https://request.usestring.ai/v1/contexts/{contextId}`

Delete a browser profile. It becomes unusable at once and its name and slot are free; stored data is removed in the background. Repeating the request returns 202 until the data is gone, then 404.

## Response `202`

Deletion accepted; stored data is being removed.

  - `id` string, uuid, required
  - `status` 'DELETING', required
  - `deleted` boolean, required: `false` while stored data is still being removed.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid Authorization header.
- `404`: Profile not found for this organization.
- `409`: A saving session is open on the profile. Read-only sessions do not block deletion.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded. The default limit is 60 requests per second per organization, averaged over a rolling window. Back off and retry with exponential backoff and jitter.
- `500`: Internal server error.
