# POST /api/ai:transcribe

`POST /api/ai:transcribe`

## Request

Transcribe transcribes an audio file with the instance's configured
 transcription provider. The caller must be signed in, and requests are rate limited per user.

## Request body

- TranscribeRequest: Request message for AIService.Transcribe.
  - `audio` TranscriptionAudio, required: TranscriptionAudio is the audio input for a transcription.
    - `content` string, bytes: Input only. Inline audio bytes, at most 25 MiB.
    - `uri` string: URI of the audio content. Reserved for future use; the service rejects requests that set it.
    - `filename` string: Optional. The uploaded filename, at most 255 characters.
    - `contentType` string: Optional. The MIME type of the audio. If empty, the service detects it from the content.

## Response `200`

OK

- TranscribeResponse: Response message for AIService.Transcribe.
  - `text` string: The transcribed text.
