# Delete Strategy

`DELETE /v1/strategies/{strategy_id}`

Hard-delete a strategy and its backtest runs.

Refuses with a coded 409 — never a 500 — when the strategy has work in
flight or retains history the platform keeps (see
``_DELETE_RETAINED_HISTORY_SQL`` above). Archive
(``POST /v1/strategies/{id}/archive``) is the path for those.
