# Update open headcount

`POST /open-headcount/{headcountId}`

Updates fields on an open headcount row. The API key's associated user must be a team administrator.

## Request body

- object
  - `externalId` string
  - `displayName` string
  - `openSince` string, date
  - `targetStartDate` string, date, nullable
  - `actualStartDate` string, date, nullable

## Response `200`

The updated open headcount row.

## Other responses

- `400` — 400
- `401` — Missing, invalid, revoked, or expired API key.
- `403` — API key lacks the required resource or access level.
- `404` — Open headcount not found
- `422` — 422
