# SEC EDGAR Companies Search

`POST /us/sec/companies-search/v1`

## Request

Search every filer EDGAR knows, about a million companies, funds, trusts and people, by current or former name, EIN, ticker, exchange, SIC code, state or country of incorporation, state of the business address and entity type. Returns each filer's CIK, EIN, SIC, state of incorporation, addresses, phone, tickers and former names. Most recently active first, pages of up to 50. Served by Croma (`as_of` says how current the data is), brought up to date daily.

**Dataset endpoint**: answers from the whole source in milliseconds and carries `as_of`.

      - `ein` string, nullable, required: The IRS Employer Identification Number, nine digits, as the filer gave it to EDGAR. Null when EDGAR has none (it holds `000000000` for many filers, which is served as null).
