# Tool definition for LLM function calling

`GET /v1/tools/render_map.json`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.ultimaps.com`
- URL: `https://api.ultimaps.com/v1/tools/render_map.json`
- Auth: none required

A function-calling tool definition for the render endpoint. For a ready-made MCP server over the same endpoints, install `@ultimaps/mcp`. `input_schema` is the inlined render-request schema with two differences, both for strict function-calling providers that choke on `oneOf`: `choropleth.format` publishes the OBJECT form only (use `{"preset": "compact"}` where the API also accepts the bare string `"compact"`), and the `$schema`, `$id` and `title` keywords are dropped. Everything else is identical. The endpoint itself still accepts both forms, and `/v1/schemas/render-request.json` publishes the unmodified schema. Cached 5 minutes.

## Response `200`

The tool definition.
