# Send DM

`POST /dm/send`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Send a direct message to a user as the authenticated account. Requires a logged-in session for the acting account. Billed at $0.0016 per call. Cost: $0.0016 per call.

## Request body

- object
  - `recipient_id` string, required: Numeric Twitter user ID of the recipient.
  - `text` string, required: The message body. Also accepted in a JSON request body.

## Response `200`

Send a direct message from your authenticated account.

- object
  - `ok` boolean: True when the message was sent.
  - `message_id` string, nullable: ID of the sent message, or null if it failed.
  - `conversation_id` string, nullable: ID of the conversation the message landed in, or null if the upstream response did not include it.
  - `recipient_id` string: The recipient's numeric user ID.
  - `text` string: The message body that was sent.

- `401`: Unauthorized
- `402`: Insufficient credits
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not found
- `429`: Rate limited
- `5XX`: Server error
