# Update a trip

`PATCH /api/trips/{id}`

## Request

Only the fields given change. traveler_ids replaces the traveller list; cover_photo_id "" clears the cover. Members of the owning account only.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required: The trip id.

## Request body

- TripPatch
  - `title` string: Title.
  - `start_date` string: Date, YYYY-MM-DD.
  - `end_date` string: Date, YYYY-MM-DD.
  - `status` 'past' | 'planning' | 'booked' | 'active': past, planning, booked or active.
  - `notes` string, nullable: Notes.
  - `cover_photo_id` string: A photo id to use as the cover, or "" to clear it.
  - `traveler_ids` string[]: Person ids. Replaces the list.
  - `budget_raw` string, nullable: A budget with currency, e.g. "AUD 8000"; null clears it.

## Response `200`

Updated.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is malformed or fails validation.
- `401`: No usable credential: a Clerk session token, a device token or an OAuth access token is required.
- `404`: No such thing, or not one the caller can see.
