# Merge another trip into this one

`POST /api/trips/{id}/merge`

## Request

Everything on from_trip_id moves across — segments, stays, activities, photos, documents, plans, travellers, places — and it is deleted. Dates widen to cover both; places and drives are re-derived. Irreversible; both trips must be in the same account and writable.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required: The trip id.

## Request body

- MergeRequest
  - `from_trip_id` string, required: The trip to fold into this one; it is deleted afterwards.

  - `merged` string, required: Title of the trip that was absorbed.
  - `moved` object, nullable, required
    - `segments` integer, required
    - `stays` integer, required
    - `experiences` integer, required
    - `photos` integer, required
  - `start_date` string, nullable, required
  - `end_date` string, nullable, required

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is malformed or fails validation.
- `401`: No usable credential: a Clerk session token, a device token or an OAuth access token is required.
- `403`: The caller may not do this to this account or trip.
- `404`: No such thing, or not one the caller can see.
