# Add a person

`POST /api/people`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://trvlrr.app`
- URL: `https://trvlrr.app/api/people`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

A name to travel with. An existing person of that name (case-insensitive) is returned instead of a duplicate.

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string, required: The person's name.

## Response `200`

Already existed.

- PersonCreated
  - `id` string, required
  - `name` string, required
  - `existed` boolean, required: true when a person of that name already existed and was returned instead.

## Other responses

- `201`: Created.
- `400`: The request is malformed or fails validation.
- `401`: No usable credential: a Clerk session token, a device token or an OAuth access token is required.
- `403`: The caller may not do this to this account or trip.
