# Describe changes in a sentence

`POST /api/assistant/ingest`

## Request

The AI turns the text into places, segments, stays and activities on the given trip, or on a new trip when none is given and the text names one. Up to 2,000 characters. Uses an assist (3 a month on Free).

## Request body

- AssistantRequest
  - `text` string, required: What to add or change, in a sentence or two.
  - `trip_id` string: Apply it to this trip; otherwise a trip may be created.

## Response `200`

Applied to the trip, or the text was not about travel.

## Other responses

- `201`: A new trip was created and filled.
- `400`: The request is malformed or fails validation.
- `401`: No usable credential: a Clerk session token, a device token or an OAuth access token is required.
- `402`: Trvlrr Plus is required, or this month's AI allowance is used up.
- `403`: The caller may not do this to this account or trip.
- `404`: No such thing, or not one the caller can see.
- `422`: The input was understood but could not be acted on.
- `501`: The feature is not configured on this deployment.
