# Update run variables

`POST /capture/{journey_id}/runs/{journey_run_id}/update_variables`

## Request

Use this endpoint to update variables for an existing run.

## Path parameters

- `journey_id` string, required
- `journey_run_id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `variables` object, required: The changed variables, such as a new status or a new checkout date, with a maximum of 32 variables. Original run variables which are not present in this request will not be changed.
    - `key` string, required: The name of the variable. Max 75 characters.
    - `value` string, required: The value of the variable. Max 255 characters.
