# Settle a covered Handshake fee

`POST /api/v1/handshakes/{id}/cover`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://traydstar.com`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Scope: pay. For payment.state = 'covered': confirms your side using a free Handshake or the owner's membership. No money moves. Entitlement is re-checked server-side; 402 if the fee is actually payable.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required

## Response `200`

Settled; handshake_active is true once both sides are settled.

## Other responses

- `402`: Not covered — pay it instead.
- `409`: Already settled or not awaiting payment.
- `default`: Error.
