# Check the helpdesk for new mentions now

`POST /ServiceDesk/Mentions/Sweep`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

**Requires permission:** *IT*

Runs one pass of the mention sweep and reports what it found. The sweep no longer runs on a timer — it was the largest consumer of the Freshservice rate limit the whole School shares — so this is what makes new mentions appear. A pass is bounded by a time budget and by the rate limit, so a long backfill is worked through over several presses rather than in one request.
