# Count open tasks in each category

`GET /api/tasks/categories`

## Request

Every category, in this order, with its count of open tasks (zero included) and the total. Categories: consulting, data, design, engineering, legal, marketing, operations, physical, research, writing, other. Counted by the database in one query and cached for up to 30 seconds. Same as the list_task_categories MCP tool.
