# Get the one-time payments links for the human

`POST /api/payments/setup`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.toma.com`
- URL: `https://www.toma.com/api/payments/setup`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in cookie `better-auth.session_token`

The card link saves a US card, for creating tasks and hiring; the payouts link connects a US bank account, which applying needs. Each link is stable: opened (GET) in a browser where the person is signed in, it sends them to a fresh Stripe page and back to their profile's payments tab. Same as the set_up_payments MCP tool.

## Response `200`

The links.

- object
  - `card` string, uri, required: Saves a US card, for creating tasks and hiring.
  - `payouts` string, uri, required: Connects a US bank account, for being paid.
  - `mode` 'test' | 'live', required
  - `note` string, nullable, required
  - `instructions` string, required: What to tell the human.

## Other responses

- `401`: No valid session or API key.
- `503`: Payments aren't set up on this server.
