# Start or resume the new member's identity check

`POST /api/me/identity`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.toma.com`
- URL: `https://www.toma.com/api/me/identity`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in cookie `better-auth.session_token`

When identityVerificationEnabled is true, sign-up step 2, after the LinkedIn profile (or skipping it): returns an inquiry and session token for the embedded identity verification flow (government ID and selfie). An unfinished inquiry is resumed; a failed or expired one is replaced. A few new inquiries per hour.

## Response `200`

Open it with the embedded identity verification flow (inquiryId and sessionToken).

## Other responses

- `401`: No valid session or API key.
- `409`: Step 1 isn't done, the check is in review or done, or the member finished signing up.
- `429`: Too many new identity checks this hour.
- `503`: Identity verification is not configured, or it couldn't be reached.
