# Generate Description

`POST /api/v1/templates/generate_description`

Generates an AI description from a project or saved template. Supply `project_id`
or `template_id`. Requires `data:read_write`, access to the source and the AI template descriptions feature.

## Request body

  - `project_id` string, nullable: Project to summarize. Takes precedence when template_id is also supplied.
  - `template_id` string, nullable: Saved template to summarize.
  - `locale` string: Language for the generated description.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- GenerateDescriptionResponse
  - `description` string, required: AI-generated template description.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Not Found
- `429`: AI description service rate limit exceeded
