# PUT /groups/{group_namespace}

`PUT /groups/{group_namespace}`

## Request

- Base URL: `/v2` (relative, and the document was published on a file host, not at the API’s origin)
- URL: `/v2/groups/{group_namespace}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP basic
  - API key in header `X-TILEDB-REST-API-KEY`

Registers an already existing group

## Request body

- GroupRegistrationRequest: information for creating a new group with the passed configuration
  - `config` TileDBConfig: TileDB config used for interaction with the embedded library
    - `entries` object[]
      - `key` string
      - `value` string
  - `group_details` object, required: Initial attributes for the creation of a group.
    - `description` string: A human readable description of the contents of the group.
    - `name` string: The name of the group. If must be unique within the group.
    - `parent` string: The unique name or id of the parent of the group. If empty, then the new group will be a top level group.
    - `uri` string: uri of group.
    - `logo` string: logo (base64 encoded) for the group. Optional
    - `tags` string[]: optional tags for groups.
    - `license_id` string: License identifier from SPDX License List or Custom.
    - `license_text` string: License text
    - `region` string: region of the group
    - `access_credentials_name` string: the name of the access credentials to use. if unset, the default credentials will be used.
