# POST /groups/{group_namespace}/{group_name}/metadata

`POST /groups/{group_namespace}/{group_name}/metadata`

## Request

- Base URL: `/v2` (relative, and the document was published on a file host, not at the API’s origin)
- URL: `/v2/groups/{group_namespace}/{group_name}/metadata`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP basic
  - API key in header `X-TILEDB-REST-API-KEY`

get metadata on a group using the requested config

## Request body

- GroupMetadataRetrievalRequest: Retrieves the metadata of a group
  - `config` TileDBConfig: TileDB config used for interaction with the embedded library
    - `entries` object[]
      - `key` string
      - `value` string

## Response `200`

retrieve metadata for a group

- Metadata: user's TileDB metadata
  - `entries` MetadataEntry[]: List of metadata entries
    - `key` string
    - `type` string
    - `valueNum` integer
    - `value` unknown
    - `del` boolean

- `502`: Bad Gateway
- `default`: error response
