# Identifiers that outlive a ticker

`GET /identifiers.json`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://tickerinside.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://tickerinside.com/api/v1/identifiers.json`
- Auth: none required

One row for each of the 10,873 funds and stocks with a file here: ticker, name, asset type, the exchange it is listed on, its composite and share class FIGIs from OpenFIGI, its SEC CIK and, for a fund, its SEC series and class ids, in one file of 1.3 MB, and the same rows in /api/v1/identifiers.csv. A ticker can change, and a ticker given up can pass to another security. Key your records on the composite FIGI or, for a fund, its SEC class id, not on the ticker: neither changes with the ticker nor passes to another security. A CIK names the company or trust that files with the SEC, and several securities can share one. Of them, 10,772 have a FIGI, 9,848 a CIK and 5,444 a series id; a field is null where its source does not list the security yet. Each fund and stock file carries its row's values under identifiers.

## Response `200`

The file. The example is a real answer, shortened: long lists and maps keep their first entries.

- Identifiers
  - `read_on` string, nullable, required: The day the sources were last read. Each source's own date is in sources.
  - `count` integer, nullable, required: How many securities are listed, the length of securities.
  - `note` string, nullable, required: How to read the rows.
  - `fields` string[], nullable, required: The names of the columns of each row, in their order: ticker, name, then the fields of the identifiers object a fund or stock file carries.
  - `counts` object, required: How many rows there are, by asset_type, and how many have each field.
    - `securities` integer, nullable
    - `etf` integer, nullable
    - `etn` integer, nullable
    - `stock` integer, nullable
    - `exchange` integer, nullable
    - `composite_figi` integer, nullable
    - `share_class_figi` integer, nullable
    - `cik` integer, nullable
    - `series_id` integer, nullable
    - `class_id` integer, nullable
  - `sources` object[], nullable, required: Where each column comes from: name, url, the fields it gives, read_on (for the directory, the date of its file) and, for OpenFIGI, its terms.
    - `name` string, nullable
    - `url` string, nullable
    - `fields` string[], nullable
    - `read_on` string, nullable
    - `terms` string, nullable
  - `securities` array[], nullable, required: One row per fund and stock with a file here, in ticker order, in the columns of fields: [ticker, name, asset_type, exchange, composite_figi, share_class_figi, cik, series_id, class_id]. A fund's file is /api/v1/fund/{ticker}.json, a stock's /api/v1/sec/{ticker}.json.
    - string[]
  - `license` string, nullable, required: The licence the data is published under.
  - `attribution` string, nullable, required: How to credit the data: a link to this file where the medium allows one, the name where it does not.

## Other responses

- `304`: Not modified: the ETag of your copy, sent in If-None-Match, is still current. Files are cached five minutes.
- `503`: The file could not be served just then: retry after a minute. uptime says whether the site fails its own checks.
