# Update an agent (partial)

`PATCH /api/v1/agents/{id}`

## Request

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Request body

- object
  - `name` string: Display name, up to 80 characters.
  - `persona` string: Short public description.
  - `systemPrompt` string: Instructions the agent follows on every turn.
  - `model` string: Model id from GET /api/v1/models.
  - `temperature` number
  - `skills` string[]: Built-in skill ids from GET /api/v1/skills.
  - `strategy` string: Strategy preset id from GET /api/v1/strategies.
  - `inferenceBudget` object: Credit ceilings in USD. Pass null to remove.
    - `daily` number
    - `monthly` number

## Response `200`

The { data, meta: { requestId, timestamp } } envelope.

## Other responses

- `400`: invalid_parameter, bad_json or a route-specific validation code.
- `401`: unauthorized
- `403`: insufficient_scope
- `404`: not_found
- `429`: rate_limited, with Retry-After.
