# Remove Chat Participant

`DELETE /api/chats/{chat_id}/participants/{target_identity_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.thinqos.com` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://app.thinqos.com/api/chats/{chat_id}/participants/{target_identity_id}`
- Auth: none declared

Remove a participant from a chat.

Allowed when:
  - Caller is removing themselves (self-leave, any kind)
  - Caller is an active participant AND target is an agent (tool removal)
  - Caller manages a room and the target's role is within their authority

Direct chats never permit removing the other person; they remain a stable
1:1 until explicitly converted to a room.

TOS-3754: nor do they permit removing YOURSELF. For a 1:1 the thread is the
relationship, and self-leaving one bricked it - see ``leave_permitted``.
Archive, the hide-earlier cutoff, block, and delete cover what people
actually wanted from it. Rooms and topics are unaffected.

## Path parameters

- `target_identity_id` string, uuid, required

## Headers

## Response `204`

Successful Response

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
