# Update Test Mode

`POST /api/settings/test-mode`

## Request

Enable or disable test mode for the organization

BetterHire staff only (2026-09-02). 404 rather than 403 follows the
convention in core/internal_access.py: for staff tooling a 403 confirms
the endpoint exists. The create path uses 403 instead, deliberately —
there the caller sent a flag and deserves to know why it was refused.

Note this is the WEAKER of the two gates. The real one is in
interview_routes.create_interview: `is_test_mode` came straight from the
client with no validation, so before that gate this toggle controlled
nothing but UI visibility.

Test mode allows manual audio upload and testing of the analysis pipeline
