# Get Test Mode

`GET /api/settings/test-mode`

Get test mode status for the organization

Test mode allows creating test interviews with manual audio upload
for testing the multi-agent analysis pipeline

BetterHire staff only (2026-09-02). Non-staff get enabled=False rather
than a 404 because this is a state read, not the capability: the FE
calls it to decide whether to render the Test Mode card and the Test Lab
nav entry, and reporting the EFFECTIVE state (off, because they may no
longer use it) makes both disappear with no client change.

That also means no data migration: an organisation that had the toggle
on keeps a stale `testMode.enabled` row which is now simply never
honoured. Reverting the policy is a code change, not a backfill.
