# Ingest a technical manual

`POST /v1/ingest`

## Request

Upload a PDF manual with optional equipment metadata. All metadata fields are optional — a manual can be ingested with no metadata. `applicable_models` is a JSON-encoded list of model number strings (e.g. '["FSW26","FSW43"]'). Ingestion (page-level text extraction) runs in the background. Returns immediately with a document_id for status tracking.
