# Create Memory Store

`POST /v2/memory-stores`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://tavusapi.com`
- URL: `https://tavusapi.com/v2/memory-stores`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Creates a persistent memory store for one PAL and participant. This is useful when you need to add pinned memories before the participant's first conversation. Otherwise, passing one tag in `participant_tags` to Create Conversation creates the store automatically.

Only one active store may exist for a given `pal_id` and `participant_tag`.

## Request body

- object
  - `pal_id` string, required: PAL that will use this memory store.
  - `participant_tag` string, required: Stable identifier for the participant in your application.
  - `pinned_memories` string[]: Optional static facts to seed into the store. Up to 30 facts, each with up to 500 characters.

## Response `200`

Memory store created

- MemoryStore
  - `memory_store_id` string, required: Unique identifier for the memory store.
  - `pal_id` string, required: PAL this store belongs to.
  - `participant_tag` string, required: Developer-provided participant identifier.
  - `pinned_memories` PinnedMemory[], required: Pinned facts in this store.
    - `memory_id` string, required: Unique identifier for the pinned memory.
    - `memory` string, required: Pinned fact.
    - `created_at` string, required: When the pinned memory was created.
    - `updated_at` string, required: When the pinned memory was last updated.
  - `learned` LearnedMemory, required: Memory learned from prior conversations. A filtered request may return only profile or timeline.
    - `profile` object: Structured participant information learned across conversations, nested up to three levels.
    - `timeline` object: Time-aware interaction history grouped into recent conversations, days, weeks, and months.
  - `created_at` string, required: When the store was created.
  - `updated_at` string, required: When the store was last updated.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad Request - invalid request body
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: The PAL is inaccessible
- `409`: A memory store already exists for this PAL and participant
