# Preview Connector Tools

`GET /v2/connectors/{connector_id}/preview`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://tavusapi.com`
- URL: `https://tavusapi.com/v2/connectors/{connector_id}/preview`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

The tools the server currently exposes, without importing anything. Use it to show a picker before scoping a PAL down with `layers.mcp.connector_tools`.

## Response `200`

Tool list returned

- object
  - `tools` object[]: The server's own `tools/list` response, untouched. Each entry's `name` is what you list in a PAL's `layers.mcp.connector_tools` to scope that connector down.
    - `name` string: The tool name, as the server reports it.
    - `description` string: The server's description of the tool.
    - `inputSchema` object: JSON Schema for the tool's arguments, as the server reports it.
  - `selected_tool_names` string[], nullable: Always `null` on connectors created today. A connector-level selection left over from the removed tool importer; tool scoping is a per-PAL decision, so use `layers.mcp.connector_tools`.

## Other responses

- `409`: OAuth is not finished for this connector, or the MCP server rejected the connector's credentials with a 401 or 403 (`mcp_auth_rejected`). For `mcp_auth_rejected`, reconnect the connector or update its token.
- `422`: The server URL returned a web page instead of an MCP endpoint (`mcp_protocol_error`), or the URL is blocked (`mcp_url_blocked`).
- `424`: The MCP server failed: it returned another HTTP error (`mcp_server_error`), sent a malformed response (`mcp_protocol_error`), or could not be reached (`mcp_server_unreachable`). `detail` carries the server's own message.
